As language roles within ASD are available across many disciplines, language specialists can expect to have a range of exceptional and diverse opportunities throughout the organisation during their career with ASD.

We are interested in a wide range of languages with current priorities being languages of Northeast and Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East/Central Asian region. ASD provides great opportunities for further language training, and language specialists with proficiency in a non-priority language are encouraged and supported in using their language aptitude to undertake retraining for a priority language.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of examples of some of the different roles and tasks in which language specialists can apply their LOTE expertise and other skills – the role may include just one task on these lists, or may involve aspects of several. Click the link under each role heading for more detail on each role from the most relevant Job Family page.
